Orlando, Florida has been my home for the last 29 years. It was here that I met my High School sweetheart, D’Juan and then married him years later. It is also in the Sunshine State that our two children were born.
I attended Bethune-Cookman University and received a Bachelors degree in Psychology. I then decided to return to school to receive a Masters degree in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University. I always remembered Mary McLeod-Bethune’s motto: “Enter to learn, depart to serve.”
In my pastime, I love to read, exercise, and craft, try out new restaurants, travel, and be in the company of the special people that God has placed in my life. I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in which I am given the opportunity to touch the hearts of so many lives through public service. I enjoy using my creativity to plan and organize events.
I am an active member at The River of Life Christian Center, where Marvin and Deborah Jackson are my pastors. I love my church family and am very passionate about our young people and serve diligently in our youth department.
One of my personal goals is to host and coordinate an annual event for Christian authors, which would promote upcoming and prominent authors and their novels, providing a platform of inspiration and encouragement to the community.
For those of you that need to be encouraged, I want you to know that despite the adversities that I have encountered, I always knew that the Lord was with me. So, if you are going through, don’t give up. Troubles don’t last always. Without a test, you will not have a testimony; without misery, there will not be a miracle; and without pain, there is no preparation for your destiny. Remember if the Lord can do it for me; He can do it for you. The scripture that I hold close to my heart is Romans 8:28, “All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord and that are called according His purpose.”
